The problem with traditional traps
The problem with conventional greasetraps is that as they accumulate fat, oil and grease the separation-zone becomes smaller and they lose efficiency. To remain effective conventional greasetraps must be regularly emptied by a contractor or by kitchen-staff, this can be inconveinient and expensive and is often forgotten - resulting in blocked drains and hygiene problems.
The Grease Shield® is different
The Grease Shield ® has been developed to combat the traditional problem of grease trap emptying and the inherent odours of grease traps by discharging recovered FOG into an external container and cleaning itself automatically.
The Grease Shield® carries out the following AUTOMATICALLY
Fat, oil and grease removal
The Grease Shield ® traps FOG in the same way as a conventional trap but instead of retaining the separated waste the system skims off the oil and discharges it into an external container for disposal / recycling. This means that there is no loss of efficiency and the system consistently removes a high level of fat, oil and grease (FOG).
Food removal and dewatering
Food waste is a common cause of blocked grease traps and odours. The Grease Shield ® is the only grease trap to remove and de-water food debris discharging it for disposal or composting. Food removal is conducted using an Archimedes screw which draws food waste up at a 45 degrees angle thereby dewatering by gravity and dropping into a food collection container.
System cleaning
The self-cleaning function removes the need for staff cleaning leaving the Grease Shield ® to continue to work automatically 24 hours a day.
Owing to its high performance and ease of use the Grease Shield ® system is used by many major restaurant groups across the UK.
